Patiently Waiting

Sometimes like kids, we want everything our way, right now, and do not want to wait on anything to receive it. God has His perfect timing and ways and a divine plan for our lives, but we have to be patient to receive His best.

Trust in God Inspirational Gospel

As parents, we can easily give into the impatient requests of our children, with the need to make them happy. We don’t want them to go without in any area of their life and we don’t want them to be unhappy. So in our weakness, we let them have what they want at times just to see them smile. But God is our Divine Father, and as an all-knowing God, He is not concerned about His children being impatient and having what they want just to please their desire. Unlike our understanding, God is able to determine what is best for us at a level that we can’t comprehend. “’For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord” (Isaiah 55:8 NIV).

He knows what is best for us and what He has in store for us, and He will not sacrifice His best just so we can stop whining. While it may seem unfair as we wait for God to fulfill our requests, not understanding why He’s not given us what we think we should have, we must remember that He ALWAYS has the best for us. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV). So we must be patient and believe and trust, knowing that He will provide more for us than we can imagine, as He is our loving Father and is strong enough to let us whine, knowing His best is in store for us.

How Do I Remain Patient When Waiting on God?
  • Pray to God and ask Him to help you be patient
  • Reflect on God’s promises and trust them
  • Remind yourself His plans are always best!

As always, the first place to start is going to God in prayer to get the help you need. He will always provide the grace and guidance that you could not achieve on your own when you open the door and give Him access to your situation. Then reflect on God’s promises, as He ALWAYS stays true to them. This is a solid reminder of what He has done for you and what He will do for you, keeping you grounded in faith, trusting in His perfect timing and plan.

When you allow for God to show you His plans, you will watch them unfold in your life. You will be able to see how He orchestrates everything in ways you could have never imagined. Then when you get in moments of struggling with having patience to wait for what you hope to experience, you will be able to look at all He’s already done in your life and see clearly that His plans are always the best and worth waiting for, easing the challenge of accepting His timing instead of yours.

Hold on to your hope, stay grounded in your faith, and know that God does not only have His best plans and timing in place for you, He is there to help you along the path of patience to ensure you arrive at His blessings!
